Since no one bothered to post anything here I suppose I could chime in with a few thoughts on the matter...

1) Decide early on what approach you want to take with your character:

a: Xp earner: focused on gaining as many lvls as fast as possible.

b: Stat monster: focused on training stats as early as possible and as much as possible.

c: Balanced: The all-rounder so to speak.  Picks and chooses missions based on best possible rewards be it coin or xp.

Which approach is "best"? There is none.  All depends on that player's personal priorities and it is entirely possible to change up your focus in stages depending on your lvl.  If you are a stat monster for example, then plan to duel opponents often as much as possible.  The additional coin really adds up over time.

2) Join a team early on.  The bonuses are essential to optimizing your character and it really does make a difference.  Not to mention you'll also be earning a little extra coin and xp from team fights, deeds, etc.

3) Be active.  The onus is on you the player.  If you only use your base energy per day and skip all refills then don't expect to be very competitive down the road... A fully active player with a mediocre character who uses all his refills will in time surpass a much better character who only plays casually.

4) Get the donut mission booster at the very least.  Skill and work boosters are completely optional imo but going along with #3, if you plan to be active then you really need the donut booster to cut down mission times.

I could elaborate further and in more detail but these are just a few tips to getting a new player started down the right track imo.

I believe that one of the main ingredients that makes an awesome hero is peace of mind as conflicting emotions usually get in the way of true acts of heroism.

I admittedly am not a true hero.
