I've had a few players (that I don't know) request help from me. It doesn't cost me anything so I send it. How do you request an item/help? And is it possible to send a player an item/help without their requesting it first?

Sending items can be a major abuse, so as of the moment pretty sure their isn't such a thing yet or probably likely to be anytime soon.

Ok, that answers the second question but how does someone request help from another player?

Ok, the remote control icon in the bottom right corner is how request help but that doesn't explain how I got requests from people not in my friends list.

Well, anyone that puts you in their friend list can request help (batteries) from you. If you don't want that, just go to Messages/Requests and tick the box that says "Display only requests from the friend list and your team members".

You can ask friends for primary batteries, if thats what you mean? but they have to be in your friend list and no you can't send them primary batteries if they don't request it first...
