Game updates tend to happen on Tuesdays every four weeks. You can confirm that yourself by taking a look at the Patch Notes section of the forums
Patch Notes - Hero Zero (herozerogame.com)
With regular updates that happen after a set amount of time, being four weeks, an in-game announcement is likely not considered to be necessary as this information can already be seen via forums

Blabla..what is so hard to send a message with 24h before maintenance?? Who stay to remember "aa..wow is the 4th week, maintenance will come!!"? Nobody almost. Send the message!

I mean the code is already written. It used to happen every time. Let's hope they see this is a simple thing they can do to show us they listen and give at least half a s--t.

Now maintenance! No warning, no nothing even on forum..who is managing this rly sucks. And is not Tuesday but they called "planned maintenance"..ironic.
