Can someone please describe how to efficiently workout for skill improvement?

 

Also, when I choose a session, there are three options: Skill Fitness, Standard Fitness, and Fight Fitness. Are they all equally useful? Should you focus on one in particular or do you do each one in succession?

It makes no difference whether you choose the Standard, Skill or Fight exercise.
What does matter is the difficulty level. You can judge which exercise is the most efficient by taking the points that it costs and divide by the points you will gain if you are successful. Combine that knowledge with the likelihood of successfully completing the exercise and you have the basics. A stronger sidekick will improve your success rate.
