It really is disheartening that after two weeks of an issue that affects multiple players there's been no official word on this issue. While I understand the legal complexities of doing business across the globe, a simple acknowledgement would go a long way towards easing players' minds.

This afternoon I got a reply to my help ticket (edited for format and privacy):
Could you test something for us?
Check in the history of your browser the last link where you played Hero Zero - it should work.
After that, go to options (in the left bottom corner) -> Account and Unlink Account, so you will be able to play through our servers directly, on us3.herozerogame.com .
While this did not work for me, I thought I should share in the off chance it might work for some of you.

I have just sent a message to support asking for an update for them to send a message back saying they are unable to find my account & could i tell them my character name, my email address & the server name but they have these already as i have used my character name & email when contacting them lol

I have gotten my account back as well. I reply to my ticket I opened and they sent back the following
"please try to login, again on US3, using your username and the password you should have received in your email - we have manually unlinked your account."
