I am unable to select any of the special missions beyond number 7. There is a band across the screen with the word "advertisement" on it. I have tried clicking on it to remove it but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

I think you need to do regular missions,and find (drop) a special (ITEM) that will make you able to join a special mission.

That doesn't sound normal to me. Take a print screen of it and send it in attached to a support ticket. Tell them the problem you are having.
