Okay I think that there should be more energy refills because as your team expands you start to be able to afford the 3rd and 4th energy refill. I know putting more refills would make it unfair for someone who has lots of donuts to use but I think that if the price for using donuts scaled like the coins it would make it fair.

Yeah, make it scale to the amount of times used much like it does with the coins when you are using it the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th time. Make the 5th and so on cost doughnuts at increasing amount, something like 5th = 2 Nuts, 6th = 4 Nuts and just continue to double it each time.
