Ask SOE how it's doing with it's online games... SWG (Gone) EMU free servers up. Knights of the old republic (On the way out)... All because of one thing... Because they didn't want a change. Unban the accounts that had more then one. I know several who spent some serious money on this game. Papers Please....

Well this is something I have to agree on there. Maybe a suspension. But having put in huge dollars playing this game as well, it is a real insult to ban someone without a really good reason. Yes cheating is a good reason to be chastised or penalized. But I do think the dollar amounts put into the game should be considered as well. No one wants to be banned from a game they have poured their money into. Maybe a three strike rule on multi accounts. Two suspensions. Third you are gone.

Let's stay on topic please... this thread is about Freedom of Speech, not the banning or re-instating of multi-account cheaters...
A thread on that topic already exists, so please place such comments there.
This is about freedom of speech in which you just tried to take away again...

No, I didn't... I didn't warn or ban anyone, nor did I edit or hide any post by anyone.
I just tried to steer the conversation back to the specified topic and reminded those who had been switching to another topic that a thread for that topic already exists...
We are not the overzealous ogres some might try to make us seem, but forum rules are there for a reason...

I understand, I am a mod on another game forum... Remember this is just a game for fun.

I'll be honest. I think if I was a mod, I wouldn't want people to discuss my work either. But now that is unfair to silence people who may disagree with what you do. Having open discussion is what allows for change. Keeps mods honest too. I was shown a thread earlier today that shows mods talking with their friends that play on one of the servers. If a mod has friends on the server there needs to be an oversight of that as well. I know it would be difficult for me to not favor my friends on the server. And I know me---I am as fair as they come. But it is human to favor your friends. You would have to work really hard not to favor them. Now this is not a complaint. Just an observation and an opinion. Maybe don't silence criticism. Maybe instead, just expect it to be expressed in a respectful fashion.
I assure you, we have very strict overwatch over what we do, here, and in the game. No favours for players are even (really) possible for a simple moderator of the forum.
In short; We all have someone looking and watching our activities, etc. There's nothing we can nor that we'd want to hide from our superiors. I hope this will ease your mind(s), if even just a little, people.
Sincerely,
Tomas L.

Just want to make a point. I'm not saying favors are given. I'm saying that it's difficult to not favor your friends. That it's actually human nature to want to favor a friend. And for that reason, allowing open discussions and even criticisms can be beneficial. I think when criticisms are removed, it only furthers the mistrust of those in charge. By allowing that type of content, and just helping to keep the subject matter on target of the thread, it helps everyone involved.

You may want to check Yemsral's reply. It is just a sneaky way to put an ad on the forum.

I must say there you make a good point. Favours are a natural reaction for people one likes and cares for (about). Constructive criticism is always welcome, as long as it's not being brought forward (i.e. posted) using curse words or any other obscenities or insults or the like.
EDIT: Jagan - good catch! Funny how stuff like that can get unnoticed esp. when you read to begin with, that it's a quote of a post by a moderator. Manually editing a quote isn't exactly rocket-science, at least it shouldn't be if one is familiar with forums
