I think that you should be able to add people as friends and if the other player accepts the friend request then you could talk to them in a friends chat section which I think would be a great addition.
Like this if you agree and suggestions are always welcome.

ultimately, the chat window could be like in many other games - global-friends and team - team --- and from there we have it anyway (advs, whispers)
would be a great benefit for the entire hero world - we on kong wouldnt need another global, but all the others lack it atm
