There's been a lot of discussion on the various levels of team ranks and the possibilities of expanding their capability so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Most of the rank distinction is prestige. There simply aren't that many things that distinguish varying levels within the team beyond our perception so its more of how we look at the members rather than what they can actually do. With that in mind, the ranks should be more a measure of how their input in team decisions is treated.

First, an Initiate or Newbie Rank for new members. In practice, the same as a normal member but incapable of sending Mass Team Mails, and of course, marked as Newbie rather than Member. This would allow the team leadership to distinguish between full members and those who have just joined and have yet to prove themselves.

Second (and Third) are the full members. These could be split into Members and Senior Members but that's largely superfluous. However, the option to distinguish between normal members who have been with the team long enough to advance but have chosen not to become advisors for whatever reason could be worthwhile. These Senior members could also be given access to the advisor chat for discussions without the actual advisor powers.

Fourth are the Advisors. There's been a lot of discussion about separating the duties between advisors but I think that's unnecessarily complicated as being an advisor is supposed to be a position of trust and cooperation. Tasks can be separated between players but restricting the abilities of each advisor via access control seems a bit much for individuals who are supposed to be "advising". However, different teams are run in different ways in that regard.

Lastly are the Leaders. While there should always be one, and only one, actual Team Leader to be the final say in decisions, having secondary Senior Advisors could be beneficial, especially if they also have the ability to promote members and below upwards (Members to advisors, Initiates to Members). A separate Leader chat for Senior Advisors and the Team Leader would also be beneficial

With these ranks, the Team Leader is the final say and can promote/demote Senior Advisors, Senior Advisors can promote Members to Advisors, and Normal Advisors can promote Initiates to Members.

The other, simpler option, is to keep all promotion powers at the level of Senior Advisors and the Team Leader and keep the other powers the same as they are, basically possessed by everyone advisor and above, though Senior Members might still be given access to the advisor chat. This would also give normal members something to advance to without having to give out Advisor powers.

So... any thoughts?
