I'm Irutan, current leader of Paragon and I have come here to discuss (and not protest) the case of one of my member having been banned for 2 days for inappropriate language. So let me put the situation in context:
We both have been playing this game since August 2012 and I think the all the veterans here agree, this game doesn't have *THAT* much content. New content has been rarer with time passing, and with the soft cap at level 249 levelling becomes more of a chore than anything else. Some, me included, have all but abandoned levelling, merely coming back to report, do the occasional training, and mainly, in our case, to talk and hang out with ppl we like.And that right there is what is holding us to the game. A small core of our player have talked about quitting the game all together make it some kind of celebration and stuff and yet we're still staying in the team and the game.
On a particular day we had talked about doing such a thing, this member wrote one sentence, not even particularly colorful against this game in the team chat, in a way that sounds like ranting or taking something off his chest, and also posted it in the character's description, forgotten even by him due to his lack of activity.
And still neither he nor I nor others have insulted this game afterwards, nor did we quit. We are still semi-active so to speak. So it was with some surprise to us all that today this member found out that he had been banned for 2 days for writing that sentence, three months ago and keeping it in the profile. Now it is true, that the sentence can be considered to go against the Term of Use (ToU) every one agrees on when playing HZ, hence the punishment is legal. But to me it indeed seems harsh, for a single sentence written on one occasion. And I wonder if all situations of cursing, which this could barely be qualified as, are treated with the same harshness, and makes me wonder if this is not more because he was attacking the game (if you want to call it that!) and less because it was a breach of ToU.
I did not start this thread to protest against the punishment or to appear to be "whining" but simply because it just doesn't feel very right to me and I wanted to make it known to all, Playata and players alike. If I'm breaching any clause feel free to take this thread down ( I tried to word it in a way that would avoid it).
