there must be a confirmation button if you are about to spend more than 50 donuts on a thing, or at least a 100 donuts especially in hideout, because that's the only place that ridiculous amounts of donuts can accidentally be spent....This needs to be fixed

True. The game obviously asks you to buy more when you don't have enough. The extra step to make sure you want to spend ANY donuts should be the same! I've lost dozens on errant double clicks in Training. My players with Chrome Books that use Auto-Click have that same problem daily!

I moved this Topic to Suggestions, because it's an often heard complaining.
You can lose a lot of donuts in hideout by unintentional shorten the expanding time of a room 
Same with unintentional expanding a room, happens too often for a lot of players

my friend on us1 lost 100 donuts due to accidentally clicking from the hideout and support only gave back half
