So up until now, as long as you have spare attack robots you could just keep attacking with them. You got one free refresh of opponent and after that it was one doughnut per refresh, but the attacks themselves were OK while you had robots. 

 

Just now I just did an attack that used some of my robots, but when I went to do the next attack even though I still have five attack robots available, it's telling me to pay one doughnut or wait ten minutes for the next free attack. This had to have just changed in the last day or so but I don't see any messages about it. 

 

Given that we already had a cap on how many attacks we could do based on the number of robots, why the additional impediment?

Hmm... Ok. And after my 10 minutes was up and I took my new free attack, it went back to how it's always been and the attack button was normal again for the one after that. Must have been a temporary glitch.

they changed and gave attackers a "10 minute cooldown" and that was done in the last update

As long as you win the previous fight, you can still fight the next opponent if you choose to. If you have a lot of robots and run into a good string of opponents, you can still fight several times before you need to build more robots. However if you fail the previous fight, then you have to wait 10 minutes or pay the donut to attack early. You can also refresh an opponent once every 10 minutes without spending a donut.

 

This was to help slow down the tactic of using 1 robot as a throw-away on an opponent you can't or don't want to beat so you can concentrate on opponents you can beat.

Ah, OK, that was it. Yeah, I lost the first fight. Usually I win all those fights because I only fight at "far superior" but I tried an "equal" one for a fat reward (and lost).
