Is there any reason to keep the work booster? And if so what are the benefits?

Th King is correct. I did an experiment with Hideout coin collection with an without the work booster. It makes a big difference.. So it is definitely worth the coin paid or donuts paid for the booster. You will be rewarded with bonus coin from your hideout.
