the description in it says basically "reduce 15% off the penalty points given by trophies" NOT 15 points off the penalty points

 

does that mean that if JohnDoe of Team Alpha has a trainer and a cockered up pet in team fight, the penalty instead of minus 15% it IS NOT Zero, but minus 12.75%?   and if JaneSmith of Team Omega has 5 trainers trophies and she has 1 cockered up pet, the penalty instead of minus 75% IT IS NOT minus 60% but instead is minus 63.75%?

The description is poorly worded. It adjusts the penalty PERCENTAGE by 15. So if your team has a Courage trophy (-7% penalty to skills in team fights) and an Energy trophy (-10% penalty to skills in team fights) for a total penalty of -17% to skills in team fights, then the Cockered Up sidekick ability would reduce your player's skill penalty in team fights down to a mere 2%.  If your team just had the Energy trophy (10% penalty), the Cockered Up ability would only reduce that to zero for you; the leftover 5% adjustment for the Cockered Up can't give you any positive bonus.
