As per the Patch:

 

Energy and training unit storage
• From now on unused energy and training units gets stored when the day ends.
• In its base version the storage can keep up to 50 energy and up to 5 training units.
• You can spend the saved energy and training units by using donuts.
• The storage space can be expanded once.

 

 

I can't seem to find an option that say expand it.  Could someone please advise if they figured this out or is this a glitch?

in the donuts shop, normally u can buy 100 donuts for 9.99 dollars as many times as you want

 

now available JUST ONCE (as soon as you use it  is not there anymore, just like the starter package ) is an offer to get same donuts per same price BUT in addition, you get to expand the storage space

 

but you right, the "You can spend the saved energy and training units by using donuts." is misleading, AFAIK getting the offer at donuts shop is only way to expand

not really, I could just make sure I never have stored or if so, most 50.  I can't justify it.

if you are not planning to buy donuts, you can choose
to never get it

 

 

but if you planning to buy donuts, than is worth it if you are patient and wait till it is full to use it
